It's your National Trust - together we can create a brighter future
Get these benefits only with National Trust Green Energy :
The National Trust Green Energy, in partnership with npower was launched on September 3rd, 2007.
For each customer signing up to the National Trust Green Energy product, npower will donate £15 to the National Trust Fund to invest in low and zero carbon initiatives at National Trust properties. A further £15 per customer will be donated into this fund for every year the customer remains on the National Trust Green Energy product.* If you chose to take out both electricity and gas, npower will give the National Trust £30 plus a further £20 for each year you remain a customer*.
For every unit of normal electricity that National Trust Green Energy customers use, npower will ensure that the same amount generated from renewable sources is fed into the electricity network. npower estimates the consumption of National Trust customers throughout the year until year end when we check annual consumption data and ensure the correct amount of renewable energy has been purchased to cover annual consumption.
National Trust Green Energy is generated from a number of renewable energy sources including offshore wind as well as hydro sources.
National Trust Green Energy is available to National Trust Members and non members in the UK wishing to support the National Trust Green Energy and costs no more than npower’s standard electricity tariff*.
We match 'estimated consumption' as energy purchased is balanced against consumption on a month by month basis. For many customers we may only have annual meter readings, so their consumption in any given month must be estimated. When we have a meter read, it simply confirms the customer's consumption from their last meter read, which may or may not encompass a twelve month period and does not indicate their consumption in any given month.
No. The electricity you receive will not change, and you will remain connected to the normal local distribution network. The National Grid (electricity network), distributes electricity to all customers via the existing cables and pylons of the regional electricity networks.
Yes. On the rare occasion when there is no wind, your electricity supply will not be affected since you are connected to the normal local distribution network. We just ensure that a volume of electricity generated from renewable sources equivalent to your consumption is fed into the electricity network.
Unfortunately, it’s not possible to supply individual houses with electricity from different sources; all homes and businesses in the UK are supplied by the National Grid so as National Trust Green Energy customers the electricity supplied to your home is exactly the same as what you will have received before becoming a National Trust customer.
National Trust customers can opt for paperless billing, whilst all NT Green Energy literature will be printed on recycled paper.

Learn more about National Trust Green Energy and the Green Energy Certification SchemeElectricity 100% matched from renewable sources: The electricity you receive remains the same. Usage is estimated until year end when annual consumption data is checked and we confirm the correct amount of renewable energy has been purchased. Based on npower's standard tariff. Non-standard tariff customers will be required to move to standard tariff which may be higher than your current tariff.
Your annual discount: If you pay by Direct Debit continuously for 12 months (either by making monthly payments or by settling your quarterly bill in full by variable Direct Debit) we’ll give you a discount off your bill (£100 if you buy both electricity and gas, £50 if you buy just gas or £40 if you buy just electricity). Your discount will be credited to your account on or before the last day of the 12th month after becoming eligible and then on or before the same last day of each year you continue to pay this way. Dual fuel customers must pay for both fuels in one combined payment and accept a combined dual fuel bill or statement to receive a Dual Fuel discount. Certain tariffs are excluded. Subject to change.
£15 donation to the National Trust Green Energy Fund: Initial payment of £15 per fuel invested in low carbon initiatives for customers entering into a residential contract with npower for National Trust Green Energy electricity, once supply by npower has commenced. £15 per National Trust Green Energy customer and £5 per npower gas customer invested in low carbon initiatives at National Trust properties. Payable every year a customer stays with National Trust Green Energy for the duration of the National Trust and npower alliance.
